What is a trunk show? A trunk show is an opportunity for designers and companies to showcase their new collections before they are officially available in stores. It's a sneak preview of the newest styles. Trunk shows typically last 2-3 days and after the show the dresses are shipped out. There is usually a trunk show discount, only offered during the days of the event. Sometimes, certain designers offer other incentives too, so always be sure to ask.
What is an in-store event? An in-store event is different from a trunk show because new gowns are not sent. This type of event is intended to feature the store's personal collection of a certain designer. Discounts and incentives are offered as though it is a trunk show.
What is a sample sale? A sample sale is held in order to make room for new inventory. Sometimes gown styles are discontinued, or a retailer terminates their selling contract with a vendor, therefore unable to place new orders, but still has physical inventory on hand. During a sample sale discontinued, out of date and other select styles are significantly discounted when the store sample is purchased off the rack.
