Happy New Year, Everyone! For this first blog of 2015, I’d like to introduce Bride Alyssa and her husband Will who got married on June 21st in Manistique, a little town in the Upper Peninsula.
We at Mimi’s receive lots of photos from our lovely brides. But sometimes I get ones that really touch me. This is the case with Alyssa’s. I just love her pictures! This was a true Rustic Chic wedding, the kind that looks fun and comfortable, is down-to-Earth and easy breezy with just the right amount of sophistication.

Alyssa wore Hayley Paige’s Coco, a beautiful ball gown with a flounced skirt and corset bodice. She told me this about her appointment:
I had tried on a lot of dresses at other salons and I always had the same feelings: they looked pretty but weren't unique or I had seen other brides wearing similar gowns or the quality wasn’t there. I did a lot of research before I came to Mimi's. I was frustrated and I wanted to find “the One” so badly.
I'm so impressed with my gown. The details are so couture. So much thought has been put into this dress. It is unlike any other that I had seen. When they say "you should just know" it's true. I just knew! I tried on a few more gowns to make sure it wasn't just a fluke, but it was real. The feeling when I put on that gown was what I wanted to feel like when I walked down the aisle.

Alyssa had just moved to our area and had no friends or family to accompany her to the appointment. She said she was a little dismayed that she had to walk into the salon alone. Alyssa said our manager, Rasha, “made me feel welcome, treated me like a sister, and put me at ease. Rasha was there for me when I needed someone the most. She helped me have that "awe" moment that I wouldn't have had if she hadn't been by my side, really looking at how I looked in the mirror.”

Alyssa grew up in the small town of Portage, WI. She has a Bachelors in Communications from Northern Michigan University and is a TV reporter. (How cool!). Will is from Germfask, MI in the Upper Peninsula and also went to NMU. He attends MSU’s College of Human Medicine and hopes to get his medical degree in two years. Alyssa and Will met at a barbecue during their second year at NMU. She thought he was cute and asked him to go kayaking with her later that day. Even though he said no, she took it as a challenge and didn’t rest until they went out on their first date. The rest is history!
