Kathryn and Trevor met in high school.

“He just thought he was soooo funny.”

Basically, Kathryn didn’t like him very much. But lucky for him, she gave him a chance.

“Turns out he [actually] is very funny.”

Ten years later Kathryn became pregnant which was unexpected, but also exciting for the young couple. Shortly after finding out this news Trevor and Kathryn went away on a much-needed getaway to Trevor’s family’s lake house in Rapid City. One evening while indulging in some ice cream and enjoying the sunset down by the water, Trevor asked Kathryn to be his wife.

“FINALLY!”

Kathryn was a very open-minded bride when it came to choosing her wedding gown. She began the gown shopping process long before her baby bump was showing and her main concern was not knowing how big her belly was going to get. Kathryn didn’t want anything too sparkly or poofy, and she was leaning towards not wearing a veil. So, what did she end up with? Sparkle. Poof. And a veil. She really only tried it on because of the neckline.

“Other than that, it had all the things I didn’t think that I would want, but ended up loving.”

The gown is ‘Lisette’ by Maggie Sottero, a high neckline gown with a racer cut back and armholes, a deep illusion covered V-neck with silver crystals and beads covering the entire bodice. It has a covered back with the same floral and silver pattern as the front, and clear buttons up the center back. And the skirt was a full, tulle ballgown style skirt. 😍 When it comes to gown shopping, Kathryn advises future brides to be open minded.

“You’ve probably never worn a wedding gown before, so how do you know you don’t like something?”

Kathryn comes from a very large family and was hoping for an extremely small wedding. Trevor comes from a very small family and was hoping for a full, invite everyone kind of wedding. They settled on close friends and family and the wedding was held at The Kensington Hotel in Ann Arbor.

“My vision was just our immediate families having a fancy dinner in a cozy setting where we are able to stand up and get married.”

They picked Kensington for the quality of the available menu, the service, and the beautiful atmosphere.

When Kathryn imagined her future wedding, being almost eight months pregnant probably wasn’t in the scenario.

“When I look back, I’m so happy that our baby boy was there to enjoy the best day of our lives with us.”
