Golden sunflowers, scarlet hues and a lovely lace gown are what Jenny chose for her outdoor wedding last August. The more I look at her gown, the more I appreciate the simplicity of her choice. The dress has no bling, no sparkles, no bells and whistles. She kept it minimal. And the result? A gown that shows off Jenny’s beautiful face, hair and figure. It’s about the woman wearing the dress.

Jenny and her husband Ryan are both Ann Arborites who met at Pioneer High School, however, they didn’t start dating until after college. Jenny went to Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island where she studied Sports Marketing. She’s a Marketing Manager at the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan here in town. (Go Blue!) Ryan went to the University of Tennessee and Western Michigan and is a Project Manager at Con-way Freight in Ann Arbor.

I asked Jenny if there was a special moment when she knew Ryan was The One. She told me she couldn’t remember a particular moment in time that defined her relationship with him. She said:
I knew Ryan was different and special after only a few months of dating. I was completely myself with him. He made me feel special and we laughed together…a lot! After awhile, I just knew.

I asked Jenny about her gown by Allure Bridal and what she had in mind when she visited our salon. She told me:
I had an idea in my head of what I wanted and I ended up getting something pretty close to what I imagined. I wanted a full lace dress with thick sleeves and a low back…and that’s what I got! It just felt comfortable and right.

However, on the morning of her wedding, she confided that she felt pretty stressed while getting ready. And she grew even more nervous once she got to the venue, just before the ceremony started. She said, “My stomach hurt and I felt sick…until I saw Ryan at the end of the aisle. After that, it was just a party!”

Looking at these photos, one would never think this beautiful bride had a bad case of nerves. Her smile is contagious and she looks as if she’s having so much fun.

And what’s in the Red Box? Ryan surprised Jenny by giving her a photo of the puppy that would soon be theirs. They had always talked about getting a dog and he made their dream come true. From one dog lover to another, Ryan, you are a gem. What a wedding gift! Best Wishes to both of you for a long and happy marriage from all of the staff at Mimi’s.
