On a cloudy and atmospheric day last May, our handsome couple Amanda and Josh married at Maumee Bay State Park. Even a lingering storm cloud became a thing of beauty, adding a soft light to these lovely photos.

Our bride wore a silk charmeuse creation by Augusta Jones. This design team is the master of timeless classic lace gowns. Yet here they ventured off the path of expected into a new look for them. Inspired by silhouettes from the 1930s, they’ve brought back that Old Hollywood glamor from the Silver Screen: think Art Deco, Jean Harlow and Greta Garbo in Grand Hotel. Very few women have the body for this look but we knew the instant Amanda tried on this gown that it was meant for her. She told us:
My mom and I both saw the dress on the hanger and decided to try it, even though it wasn’t the silhouette I had planned on wearing. When I tried on the dress, it hit in all the right places. It was elegantly simple.

Amanda and Josh met at a gym. Amanda said she was one of the few girls, if not the only girl, that worked out there. They started talking, sometimes spending hours getting to know each other in the parking lot. After 6 months, they finally began doing things together outside the gym and that began their whirlwind adventures.

Both Amanda and Josh are from Northern Ohio. She studied business administration at the University of Toledo and is currently getting a Masters in Law there. Josh went to Bowling Green University, then attended medical school at the University of Toledo and is now a resident in orthopedic surgery.
Amanda, we love your style, right down to Josh’s tux with tails and the black bridesmaids dresses. We can only hope to get more fashion-forward brides like you to grace our pages. Congrats from all of us at Mimi’s.
