As we approach the first official day of winter here in Michigan, I find myself dreading the long, cold, gray months that lie ahead. Our bride Maggie’s photos are the perfect quick fix for winter blues! Her photographer Ray Anthony captured all of the elements of a summer wedding - sunshine, fresh air, green everywhere, and, of course, a very beautiful bride.

Maggie married Tom on July 11th at Zingerman’s Cornman Farms, a downright gorgeous venue. I had the honor of attending a wedding there last summer. It’s a delightful farm setting with an old renovated barn and manor house. Maggie looked stunning in a lace fit-to-flare gown by Allure Bridals. She told me Mimi’s was the first and last place she went because she found her gown during this first appointment. She told me:

After trying on several gowns, my bridal consultant Najla thought to grab one that was a little different. It had beautiful antique ivory lace, which I was looking for, but the cut was a total departure from “the dress” I had in mind. It was gorgeous on the hanger, and when I tried

it on, it made me feel beautiful, feminine and graceful. When she placed the long, scalloped, lace-trimmed veil on my head, I felt like a bride. I fell in love with the ensemble and said, “Well, I think this is it. I’ll take it!”

Maggie also said that before this day, she hadn’t even been dress shopping for her high-school prom, so it was a very memorable right-of-passage for her. “An experience made even more special having family and friends by my side. I didn’t want to take off the gown!”

Tom and Maggie grew up in Ann Arbor and met at the University of Michigan. After getting their undergraduate degrees, they moved to Baltimore where Maggie got her nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University. She worked several years as a labor and delivery nurse in the city and then decided to return home to get a master’s in Nurse-Midwifery at University of Michigan’s School of Nursing.

In Baltimore, Tom worked as an assistant golf pro for several years and now works for a software company in town. In addition, he coaches high school golf and is a life-long Wolverines fan (Go Blue!).

Maggie, we are so happy you found your gown at our salon. We think you are very lucky – handsome husband, charming venue for an outdoor wedding, and you’re a gorgeous bride with both beauty and brains. Congrats from all of us at Mimi’s Bridal!
