When family recommends something, more times than not they know what they are talking about. After trying on countless gowns and being left confused and dissatisfied, Rachael's cousins recommended Mimi's. She wanted to look and feel like a bride, but at this point she no longer knew what that looked like. She came to Mimi's with just her mom, which she recommends to other brides. She allowed her bridal specialist to pull gowns that matched what she thought she wanted despite her confusion. There was one gown that even Rachael admits she would not have picked off the rack to try on. Before the gown was completely zippered up, Rachael knew it was 'The One'. It was the 'Helana gown by Wtoo, an all over beaded lace sheath gown with silver stitching, covered buttons, scalloped hemline, and minimal train.
"The dress fit my personality perfectly. I wanted something elegant and beautiful, without being flashy. And, naturally, I wanted something that would compliment my figure."

After moving back to Michigan her senior year of high school, Rachael ended up attending Manchester High School, the same school as Jordan. Shortly after their senior prom, which they attended together, Rachael and Jordan began officially dating. They both decided on the University of Michigan(UofM) for college, Rachael studying nursing and Jordan focusing on Sports Management. While completing her education at UofM, the Law Quad became one of Rachael's favorite places which became the setting for a beautiful and memorable proposal. Rachael believed she was just meeting Jordan for a work event but as she came near the Law Quad she could hear "Marry Me" by Train playing subtly in the background. The pathway she was walking down was lined with candles, the flowers were in bloom, and Jordan was standing under an archway waiting for her.
"I don't remember exactly what he said, but I know that he was crying, and I remember noticing that his hands were shaking."
After an obvious 'Yes!' from Rachael, Jordan took her out for a romantic dinner. When they arrived at the restaurant they were greeted by their close family and friends ready to celebrate.

Eleven months later, the celebrating continued at The Henry Ford with their ceremony at the Ginger-Meyer Garden and reception at Lovett Hall. The couple wanted a beautiful venue and when they took a tour of Lovett Hall, it took their breath away. It was stunning, they knew they had to have their wedding there. Other than beautiful, Rachael and Jordan wanted their wedding to have a natural feel which was accomplished and captured by Tamara and Steve, their photographers.
"Follow your heart! Always remember that this is the ONE time where you and your spouse get to decide, without apology. Do whatever you have dreamed of!"
