One day, a few years back, Catherine and her sister decided to go golfing at the Lapeer Country Club. On that day Curt and a friend decided to do the same. It was on the second hole that Catherine’s sister took a swing and the ball nearly hit Curt. It was after that the two boys asked if they could join the girls for the rest of the round. At the end of playing all 18 holes, Curt asked for Catherine’s number and they began dating shortly after that.

Five years later Curt suggested that he and Catherine play a round of golf one evening at the Lapeer Country Club. As they came to the second hole Curt noticed the pin was not in the hole. They drove down to the green and Catherine went to put the pin back into place. As she got closer she noticed rose petals in the shape of a heart and nestled in the hole was a silver box. Curt was close behind her, so when she turned to face him he was already down on one knee to propose.

Catherine arrived at Mimi’s looking to try on the ‘Lorelei’ gown by Hayley Paige: a long sleeved, ballgown, with a nude illusion neckline, scooped open back, a delicate sprinkling of crystals throughout the floral, patterned bodice and a full, layered tulle skirt. To make sure this gown was even more unique and would stand out, it was offered in a selection of colors including Rosewater- a subtle, soft pink hue. Catherine was in love with the pink aspect of this gown before even seeing it in person. When it came to trying on gowns Catherine started with the ‘Lorelei’ and knew it was ‘The One’. She would have stopped there but to help her be 100% certain Catherine went on to try a variety. After each dress she tried it was confirmed that the first was the one she would be leaving with.

“It was the one that made me feel like an absolute princess.”

The couple wanted a small and intimate setting, which is why they chose the Pine Knob Mansion in Clarkston, Michigan to be the venue for their ceremony and reception. The mansion has high ceilings, elegant archways and large windows that showcase the beautiful gardens and surrounding scenery.

“Wear comfortable shoes,” Catherine advises. “And don’t sweat the small stuff.”
Because, at the end of the day everything comes together and turns out beautifully.
