Our Bride, Julee: Mimi's is Here to Save the Day

Although she was living in the area, Julee never planned on using any Ann Arbor vendors for her wedding, since everything was taking place in her home state of Virginia. Unfortunately, the shop she originally ordered her wedding gown from was unable to proceed with her order, but luckily Mimi’s Bridal Boutique was able to help her out,- Mimi’s carries the designer of the gown Julee had attempted to order out of state. Mimi’s was able to order the same gown, get it in on time, and complete her alterations in a timely manner before she had to travel to Virginia for the big day. Her gown was ‘Decklyn’ by Hayley Paige, a fun ballgown made of organza with a flowy skirt of flounces, a cross over ruched v-neck bodice, cut out back details and cut out side panels under the arms.
Julee attended Virginia Tech and majored in engineering. Andrew attended Virginia Tech and majored in engineering. And yet, despite these coincidences, it took Andrew’s best friend for the two to actually meet. As their relationship progressed Andrew decided it was time to pop the question. He decided to take Julee down memory lane, quite literally. He took her to all the places they had gone on their very first date, and at the end of the journey of nostalgia, that’s when Andrew proposed.
Their wedding took place in Portsmouth, Virginia. The ceremony and reception were held indoors in a beautifully open and bright room. The space is a perfect blend of simple elegance and rustic chicness, with the clean walls, wide doors, chandeliers, and high ceiling with exposed wooden cross beams. Any décor that was added by the couple was cohesive with the already present ambiance of the room. They had a classic color scheme of ivory and greenery, but included pops of orange and gold for a fun and bright surprise.
Julee’s advice to future brides is classic but very important to remember:
“Savor every moment. It goes by so fast!”
