They met at a bar. It took a simple smile from Jenna to catch Jon’s eye. It takes some real courage for a man to walk over to a stranger, offer to buy her a drink and take the risk of being rejected. But, if he is not rejected he then has to engage her in conversation and hope she likes him. Well, lucky for Jon he took that chance and it turned out they had a lot of things in common. And from the way things turned out, my guess is he made a good first impression.

Before they became engaged, Jenna and Jon’s relationship was mostly long distance. Jenna had her physical therapy internships for school and Jon had K9 training. Finally, after they both had graduated, they were able to be in the same place at the same time. They decided to take advantage of that fact and go out for dinner. Afterwards Jon wanted to stop by Lake Superior to view some close by Christmas light displays. While looking at the lights, Jon got down on one knee and proposed.

Jenna always wanted an outdoor wedding. So they chose Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minnesota as the venue for their ceremony and reception. It is a more natural and rustic venue space, exactly as they wanted. The space includes an awesome view, overlooking the city of Duluth and Lake Superior.

“I was determined to have an outdoor ceremony, no matter what the weather was like. Our wedding day was cloudy and 45 degrees…it was cold, but I’m so happy we decided to get married outside! It was beautiful!”

Jenna was nervous about wedding gown shopping, only because she was unsure how dresses would fit her body type.
“My worries all disappeared as soon as I started trying on dresses with my consultant.”

Like most brides, Jenna had a faint idea of what she wanted but still was on the fence about style. At the beginning of gown shopping it is always recommended to try a variety of silhouettes and styles, in order to narrow it down to your favorite shape and details. Jenna took this advice, but after only two gowns she was convinced she had found ‘The One’. She was encouraged to try more, which she did, all the while comparing each gown to that second dress.
“When I tried my dress on for the second time I didn’t want to take it off! That is how I knew it was the one!”

That leads to her words of advice to future brides:
“Be open minded and try on every style of dress.”
Jenna’s gown was ‘Delta’ from Hayley Paige’s Blush Collection. This A-line gown features all over Marrakesh beading; a geometric and swirl pattern made up of sequin. ‘Delta’ has a deep V-neck front with thin straps and low open, scoop back with delicate center back details.
