Noura and Samer: Education

It was during their sophomore year of high school at The International College in Beirut, Lebanon that Noura and Samer first met.

“[We’ve] been high school sweethearts since 2011.”

After high school they attended The American University of Beirut. Now, they are both at The University of Michigan in the process of earning their PhDs.

“Education has brought us together.”

In October, 2017 Noura and Samer took a trip to visit Noura’s best friend, Dona, in New York City. Samer and Dona put together an outing to Central Park, enjoy the outdoors and the autumn day. Noura was pleasantly enjoying her time taking pictures from one of the bridges within the park. Samer chose this moment to get down on one knee and propose. Lucky for the couple Dona was there to photograph the event.

“October 16, 2017 was truly a great day.”

Samer and Noura have family back in Lebanon, so they chose to have their wedding, at the Mövenpick Hotel and Resort in Beirut. On July 17th, 2018 the couple shared the day with their families and closest friends.

“We both wanted a simple and cozy family gathering…”

“I guess when I was younger, I never thought much of my wedding day. I didn’t even think of how emotional it would be. Seeing all the people I love […] be so happy and sad at the same time was definitely unexpected. That day just made me appreciate all that my parents have done for me and how they have paved the way to this very special day.”

A friend suggested to Noura that she make an appointment at Mimi’s. Noura was going for a simpler look and was set on avoiding fitted gowns. Her consultant brought a gown into the fitting room that at first glance Noura was uncertain if she even wanted to try. She kept that pick for last and, to her surprise, it was ‘The One’. The gown was the complete opposite of what Noura originally thought she would go with. She chose ‘Princia’ by Pronovias: an all lace, mermaid style gown. Noura never thought she could wear that style, but when she had it on, she felt beautiful. And, it looked flawless – as if it had been made for her.

“Your dress needs to be comfortable and reflective of how beautiful you are. Go to try dresses with an open mind and try a dress you never thought you’d wear!”
